Green Party Slate Scrappage Deal

Car Forums have all been discussing the car scrappage deal that has been so popular in the UK. It is now thought that there have been about 70,000 sales through this government deal. However I was amazed to find out that the Green Party who are obviously normally for anything that promotes a green issue have been very negative about this scheme. One Green Party spokesman said that the reason for this is that to scrap a ten year old car is far more harmful to the environment than buying and using a new car. This is because although a new car may have a better and cleaner engine, the old car needs to be scrapped and that costs more harm to the environment as only a small part of the old vehicle can be recycled.
