Remember why those plates are important

Vehicle drivers sometimes fail to understand why it is that their number plates are important. Obviously the purpose behind them is to provide a unique identifying code for each vehicle on the road. For example: suppose someone is leaving a bar or tavern late at night and they are injured by a passing vehicle, and the driver does not bother to stop and render assistance. This is a violation of the law — but if the vehicle identification tag was noted, the owner of the vehicle can be tracked down in short order. Simply put, the authorities absolutely depend upon each vehicle having proper tags, especially if crimes or road accidents occur.
