Effective time management
Managing your time effectively means learning to manage yourself. Every day new tasks will present themselves and knowing how to deal with them will go a long way towards helping you to manage your time. However, there is one effective time management method for dealing with all of these tasks. I call them the four Ds of self management. They are: Do it – This is for tasks that have to be dealt with immediately or as soon as possible, so schedule them accordingly. Delegate it – These tasks need to be done but are not the best use of your time. These tasks should be passed on to someone who is better suited for the job. Dump it – If something isn’t important to you or really isn’t worth doing you should dump it. Defer it – This category is for things that need doing, but now isn’t the best time to do them so you can put them off until later.
