High premiums are paid based on your age

Your 21 auto insurance rate is determined by when and where you expect to drive. If you are not a college student and are unable be covered on your parents auto insurance, you will need to get your own. Be prepared to pay a lot of money in premiums because of your age. For one, you do not have an extensive driving record which insurance companies use to determine rates. Also, your age puts you in a high risk category, even if you have been driving responsibly since you first got your license. Just make sure that you continue to have a positive record because it will pay off as you get older.
