There are several complications when it comes to gastric bypass surgery for obesity. Many complications are common and there are surgery related deaths within one month of having the surgery among 2 percent of all patients. Other complications include infection of the incision sight or of the inside of the stomach, hemorrhage of the blood vessels that had to be cut in order to divide the stomach, a hernia caused by the rearrangement of the stomach or bowel, bowel obstruction caused by possible scarring of the bowel due to the surgery, and venous thromboembolism which is caused by the increase of coagulation due to the surgery
